Things To Do To Avoid The Blues
Debbie Williams, Regional Volunteer Co-ordinator
Over the past few months, I’ve been looking a little at developing self-awareness and recognising my response to stress and ways of managing it.
This week I found a lovely graphic from the United Nations that helps to remind us of the little steps we can take at home to maintain our equilibrium in this strange and constantly shifting new normal that we’re living in. If you’d like to print it out and keep it handy you can find the original graphic here
It’s a fun yet useful reminder. Some of my favourite suggestions are “be grateful”, “read”, “dance” and “nap to relax” ones, not that napping is always that easy if you’re in a heightened anxiety state. Sometimes that leads to more of an “oh my goodness I can’t keep my eyes open kind of feeling” rather than a nap.
Being creative can be a really relaxing hobby as well if you find the hobby that works best for you. I’ve tried quite a few of the things they suggest in my time till I found a couple that make me feel good about the things I create 😊. I love the way they end on the reminder that “You are not alone – we are in this together”.
That says it all really doesn’t it? Life in this this region is about to change again , but we can do things to balance life out. If you’d like to talk, you can contact us via email on info@mite.org.uk where you can request a call-back, we also have a range of resources on our web-site including some that are more specific to the Covid-19 outbreak: https://mite.org.uk
Our role is to help you to explore ways of meeting your own spiritual needs. What makes you feel valued, whole and at peace with yourself. We don’t have an agenda, we’re completely guided by you. If you prefer you can easily keep in touch with us on social media:
