Mission in the Economy (MitE)

MitE is an Ecumenical charitable company which works alongside local businesses, churches of all denominations, town & city councils and more to provide chaplaincy services and work & wellbeing resources to business public and voluntary communities around the North West.  We also provide Chaplains to Liverpool Airport, Merseyside Police and the Y.M.C.A.

After a successful process of re-structuring and strategic planning, our current Director of Operations has been recruited to lead a similar process with another charity.

This post is open to all, lay or ordained, who are able to support the Charity’s objects which include the promotion of “the application of Christian principles within the economy and their appreciation by Christians and non-Christians and thus foster the developments of a healthy economy by encouraging best practice and influencing public opinion in favour of gospel values.”

MitE currently has three core outputs:

  1. The provision of volunteer chaplaincy in locations throughout Merseyside.

  2. The provision of fully-funded paid chaplaincy to organizations in Merseyside.

  3. The development and delivery of chaplaincy training programmes.

In addition, we are currently looking at new models of Chaplaincy which would meet the needs of a millennial workforce within a distinct area of Liverpool.

Applicants will be required to:

  • Lead, manage and develop an established Ecumenical Chaplaincy Team.

  • Act as a focal point of contact with supporting denominations and external networks.

  • Develop a theological understanding of the effects of the regional economy, and communicate this to the Churches and faith groups through training and study events.

  • Share in the responsibility of managing the Annual Budget with the MitE Council and be proactive in attracting funding for the organisation.

  • Report regularly to the Council and work closely with the management structure.

The Mission in the Economy office base is in Liverpool city centre with satellite groups in St Helens and Warrington.  It is possible to establish a pattern of home and office working.
